This was a one hour twenty minute study. Loose brushwork was the name of the game here. When I started painting, I favored using a technique called "scumbling," which is when you almost dry brush thin layers of paint to create a soft, photographic illusion (at least that was my goal); this study, however, is almost the opposite, working "Alla Prima," or wet into wet. Here I'm more interested in the paint being paint, and letting the illusion happen with the viewer.
